Shawlography - Pattern by Stephen West

Westknits Mystery Shawl Knit A Long 2021

It's that time again! Are you ready for the Westknits MKAL 2021?

From September 1st you can purchase the MKAL pattern on Ravelry or

This year Stephen has put together another of his amazing shawl patterns for us to knit along to, but the complete pattern is a mystery. When you sign up you will receive a pdf of all the yarn and notions requirements you will need for the MKAL. Then on 8th October the first clue drops. Stephens MKALs are always fun and exciting and he walks you through every step of the way with fantastic instructions and step by step videos.

There are four clues, released on 8 October, 15 October, 22 October and 29 October

5 x 100 gram skeins of fingering weight yarn is required for this pattern.
Yarns that hold stitch definition and colours that pop are recommended so we thought our Lux Sock and our Merino Silk Yak would be perfect. Both are a nicely rounded ply which show stitch definition well.
For the colour contrast in this pattern Stephen has recommended solid or lightly tonal yarns in dark, light and medium tones with a pop of colour. You can include one or two skeins with light colour changes or tiny speckles but the pattern works best with mostly tonals.
We have put together these yarn sets that we think will look great in this pattern.

Choose your yarn bundle from the drop down menu.

Care - Handwash only We recommend that all our hand dyed yarns are hand washed in cool or tepid water and dried flat for best care.

Hand-dyed in small batches in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Australia. We try to represent colourways as accurately as possible in our product photos. Colours may vary slightly from skein to skein, even within the same dyelot, which is the nature of hand-dyeing. If you buy more than one, we will do our best to match them up. Please ensure you buy enough to finish your project as future dyelots may have subtle differences. We also recommend that you alternate between skeins every few rows on larger projects.
