Come along and learn how to dye your own yarn using the ice dyeing technique which can easily be replicated at home.
Booking is essential for catering purposes and places are limited.
Bring your friends. Classes are limited to 10 people. If your club would like to participate please send an email to Cheryl at naturalfibrearts@gmail.com with numbers of attendees and we will organise a discounted price.
Please note: We need a minimum amount of participants to run a workshop but if we need to cancel or reschedule we will fully refund your booking.
The workshop starts at 9:30am with a short talk on basic colour theory so you don't end up with mud :), followed by a fun filled session where you get to choose your own colours and apply them to the yarn.
What's included in the class
- All equipment used (trays, gloves, masks, spoons, foil, plastic wrap etc)
- 1 x 100 gram skein of Eco Lux Sock yarn and 1 x 20 gram mini skein.
- A large selection of dye colours
- Heating and setting source
- Workshop space set up
- Light morning tea
- Bottles of water
- Instruction from your workshop teacher Cheryl who has been an indie dyer since 2008 and holds certification in dyeing from Woolmark Australia and the School of Sweet Georgia.
You will get to take home your 100 gram skein of our Eco Lux sock yarn, a contrasting 20 gram mini skein that has also been dyed at the same time using the left over dye to showcase another option for dyeing.
The Eco Lux Sock is 85% Australian superwash Merino 15% biodegradable nylon.
If you have time to stay at the end of the workshop join us for a late lunch in the cafe at Vend downstairs. They have a lovely menu where you can choose a variety of food to suit all tastes and dietary requirements. Not included in the workshop price.
Our pop up shop at Vend is also open for some shopping time so plan those next projects!
